Piglet Updates!

We have gotten a few more piglet updates!
Della's piglets are doing well with their new families!

This one is named LuLu. Her family says she is doing great, weighing in at 3 lbs. She is described by Lynn as a total ball of energy, running and playing, but still loves to snuggle all the time.

This one is little Jackson. He is 4 lbs and 6 inches tall. According to Wendy he's been playing with dogs (with supervision) and torturing the cats. Cats and pigs are funny together. He knows how to come, sit, and walk on a leash. So happy for Jackson!

These little piggy's sound like they have it made! They look so happy!
Thank you for sharing ladies! I love getting piglet updates!

Surprise Piglets

Well, a couple weeks ago we suspected Pinky and Big D to be pregnant...

Pinky had her second litter with us last Thursday morning. 4 healthy babies! They're very cute and already quite active.
Big D was already bigger than Pinky last week, so I wonder how many she'll have. Last time she had 10! I don't want her to have more than that because 10 was already overwhelming her. We'll see in a few weeks.

Cleaning up the Yard

We've been hard at work cutting down trees and trying to line them up in a way that would make it easy to toss them into a chipper...

We certainly had our work cut out for us. We rented a big chipper last weekend to get our yard as cleaned up as possible.

It was just us two, and we got 3 loads of cedar mulch done in 4 hours! That's a lot of mulch! It fills the corner of our barn. Our barn smells so fresh and clean now.

Piggy Nest

A few weeks ago, I got home from work and found this mess...
The dining room chairs were all knocked over...

Our new chicks had nearly been knocked to the floor...

My box of gift bags had been gotten into and many bags ripped apart...
The heat lamp for the chicks had been dragged to the fireplace...
Paper towel rolls had been pulled from our pantry...

All so this beautiful nest could be made!

And I was led to believe that this was the culprit.

Wilson wouldn't take the blame, although he was discovered laying in the middle of that big nest. I think he was upset that he didn't have a fire that day. No one was home to keep him warm. Della was confined to the bathroom, so Wilson pulled our cloth pig off the table and left him to take the blame. SILLY PIG!

Ah, life with pigs!

P.S. This is a rare occurrence. Every once in awhile Wilson gets in the mood to build a really big nest. One day I was home with him and he was trying to build one upstairs in our bedroom. He had pulled down a curtain (which weren't mounted well) and was dragging dirty laundry from the bathroom. I yelled at him and he argued with me about it. He kind of growled and barked at me. And then he was mad at me when I came back to check on him an hour later. He's really got a funny little personality!

Planting Trees

Last Tuesday we were very busy planting trees in the orchard. First we had to remove an oak tree from the field that we had previously cut down. Then we cut down one more cedar and moved it. Then we got to work. Alex had already manured each spot for each tree. He hooked a tiller up to the tractor and went to work mixing it together. I started digging the holes. We planted 20 trees in all. Plums, persimmons, paw paws, mayhaws, pears, and cherries. We're still working on where to plant the pecan trees, so we'll have to pot them for now. Still waiting for our other order to come in with the rest!

They're quite small, so we put cages around each one.
Hard to see the cages, but they're out there.

Fixing and Painting the Tractor

Before Picture

This picture was taken in the fall when we got the Kubota. We had a Ford 8N tractor too at the time.

Alex has been working on the tractor on and off all winter. He pretty much disassembled the whole thing and put it back together. Before putting it back together we waited for a nice enough day to paint it. We finally got one.
The tractor is a kubota b6100 hst d.  Alex aslo but a turbo on the kubota.

Here is the tractor now!

I love it! The tractor looks brand new! Alex did a great job!

National Pig Day

Happy National Pig Day!
Check it out... National Pig Day on Fox 2
Charlotte's Web We Got Lots in Common - I love this song. I couldn't find it with a good video, so here is the song.
Have you guys heard of this little internet sensation? Chris P. Bacon
Some videos of our pig Wilson can be found on YouTube. This is one of my favorites.Wilson comes running

Not much is happening here on the farm. Everyone is trying to stay warm and dry. We have a light snowfall that is still falling from last night. It's not sticking, so its just wet and yucky outside. Our indoor piggies our roasting together in front of the fire. They aren't always besties, but sometimes they cooperate like this. :)
